About the author


Fred Rutter, has lived in central Ohio his whole life. Writing and photography have both been hobbies since early adolescence. Attended Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio, plus Ohio Northern University and Columbus State. For over ten years he edited a river history organization newsletter, and has written feature articles for The Sons & Daughters of Pioneer Rivermen publication The Reflector. During his career at Mid-Ohio Foodbank, while serving as the marketing manager, he crafted business communication and promotional items.

Non-fiction personal experiences are his primary writing focus, in the short story format.  These have been done for personal pleasure and to record history of actual events as he experienced them, like the Blizzard of 1978, Total Solar Eclipse of 2017, etc.

Fred has sold a few photographs, has exhibited in several juried photography shows, and has had a number of photos published in magazines such as The Waterways Journal.  He uses a Minolta X-700 35 mm camera body and a variety of lenses.

Over the years Fred has held a number of sales positions, been a bartender, worked in a factory (Cardinal Industries), and recently retired from a 27 year career at Mid-Ohio Foodbank, in positions ranging from truck driver, marketing manager, transportation manager, fleet manager, and transportation analyst.  Mid-Ohio Foodbank distributes food 650 hunger relief agency partners over a 20 county territory covering central and eastern Ohio.
